Genci Kastrati teaches Albanian Dances
In 2025, BIFD is excited to host Genci Kastrati from Albania for its annual April workshop.

We will be accepting walk-ins, as always, but encourage you to register in advance if you know you’ll be attending.
About the teacher
Genci Kastrati is an instructor and choreographer for the Albanian National Folk Song and Dance Group, the only professional folk dance troupe in the country. He completed his secondary education at the National Ballet School in Tirana and specialized in Classical Ballet and Albanian Folk Dance. He holds a degree in Choreography from the University of Fine Arts in Tirana.
He has been a soloist with the Ensemble Nacional since 1985 and performed his first concert in 2008.
He has conducted seminars on Albanian dance in the USA, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, the Netherlands and other countries. In addition to his work as a choreographer and teacher, he has been actively involved in many important national and international projects and festivals, including serving as a jury member.
Genci is known for his significant contributions to the preservation and promotion of Albanian folk dances and has a strong reputation in the national and international artistic community.

Dance notes and music will be available from Genci Kastrati at the workshop.
Shoes, Water, & Snacks
Please bring dance shoes with non-marking soles and heels to protect the dance floors. We have nice hardwood sprung floors!
Boulder, CO is a dry, high-altitude town - you’ll want to be drinking plenty of water! BIFD will not be providing snacks and beverages (water available). Please bring your own.
Contagious Illnesses (COVID & more)
Masks are no longer required at our events but are welcome. Please monitor your own health and remain at home if you have symptoms of a contagious illness (COVID or otherwise) or are sick.

The Avalon is operated by the Boulder Dance Coalition of which BIFD is a member.
During our workshop we will be dancing in the Ballroom and Sodal Hall.
Both spaces have sprung hardwood floors that are a delight to dance on!
